Ms. Gutierrez's 8th Grade English

Welcome class of 2009-2010!

Welcome to our class wiki. Here you will find group projects, class updates and Featured Writer pages. If you've never used, or perhaps heard of, a wiki, here is a link to a quick and simple explanation of just what a wiki is and why it is useful:

Before we begin, a word about Wiki Etiquette:

1. Be safe. Use only your first name and last initial, and never post the full

location of our school. This helps protect both you and your classmates.

2. Be smart. All classroom expectations apply. Respect for yourself, your classmates, and

your teacher is a constant. Violating any classroom expectations online will be dealt with in

the same manner they are dealt with during the normal school day. The Wiki and the Blog

are simply extensions of our classroom. You may not post nonsense material to get a

laugh out of your fellow classmates, you may not edit pages without authorization, and under

no uncertain terms may you "Cyber-bully" a fellow student using our classroom technology.

The Internet is vastly useful, is fun, and as I hope to demonstrate . . . educational. Unfortunately,

it also encourages a sense of anonymity that occasionally causes individuals to feel

invincible, but remember, all resources attached to this classroom can be viewed by me,

and I can trace everyone's identity--when in doubt, DON'T.
